'Unchained' is an equestrian portrait of a woman who has broken free of the restraints and defeated the challenges that kept her from realizing her power, potential, and true self. She has been through the storm and survived. The setting is Kachemak Bay, Alaska. Acrylic on panel. 22.5 x 23.5”
'Pirata' honors Eliza O’Malley, infamous Irish Pirate, and celebrates my Irish heritage. It was painted in the style of Vermeer, starting with a complete black & white underpainting to which transparent glazes were added. This is a self-portrait. Oil on canvas. 16 x 20”
'The Journey' portrays my immigration from a WV farm to Anchorage, AK. The left window panes reflect a farm scene and the right panes depict Alaska. The two graves represent the passing of my parents and the subsequent loss of my childhood home. My Siamese cat rests on a branch and is focused on the cuckoo that chirps the witching hour. The spirit guide is a white horse encouraged by a ghostly being to turn toward her destiny. Oil on canvas. 20 x 24”
